Who we are: Therapeutic Vapes Australia is an information and retail business. We are not a pharmacy and we cannot supply therapeutic vapes. Only an Australian registered pharmacy can do that. This is general information, not medical advice.
Australian vaping law changed substantially in 2024 and again in 2025. This section explains the current position in plain English and links to the primary sources so you can verify anything here yourself.
What changed
The Therapeutic Goods and Other Legislation Amendment (Vaping Reforms) Act 2024 commenced on 1 July 2024. It prohibits the importation, domestic manufacture, supply, commercial possession and advertisement of disposable single-use and non-therapeutic vapes.
From 1 October 2024, adults aged 18 and over became able to obtain therapeutic vapes containing 20 mg/mL of nicotine or less from participating pharmacies without a prescription, following a consultation with the pharmacist.
From 1 March 2025 only products meeting updated TGA standards could be imported or manufactured, and from 1 July 2025 only those products could lawfully be supplied. The standards cover permitted ingredients, a maximum nicotine concentration of 50 mg/mL, a maximum menthol concentration of 20 mg/mL, plain packaging, information leaflets and restrictions on product names.
Who can lawfully supply
Australian registered pharmacies, and only them. General retailers, convenience stores, tobacconists and online vape shops cannot lawfully supply therapeutic vapes to Australian consumers.

A note on state and territory law
The rules above are Commonwealth law and apply nationally. States and territories have their own requirements that can add further restrictions, and these differ between jurisdictions. Where your state imposes something additional, your pharmacist will know. We publish state-specific pages only where the law genuinely differs, rather than repeating the same national rules eight times.
